For fans of Danzig and Misfits, the future of new music from Glenn Danzig remains uncertain. In a recent interview with KOMP 92.3 FM, Danzig reaffirmed his stance that he has no plans to record a full-length album anytime soon.
“What I’ve always said, when I have something to say, I’ll go into the studio and record it. Right now, I really don’t have that much to say musically,” Danzig explained.
He pointed to the financial challenges of making records in an era where streaming and digital downloads dominate: “I’ve put out so many records, with all the kids, just — when I say kids, I mean people — just downloading stuff instead of buying it, from a business standpoint, you can’t make any money ’cause it costs X amount to record a record. And I’m not gonna do some stupid Pro Tools record in somebody’s living room. So it comes down to, if I have enough stuff soon, maybe, but right now, no… It’s not a good business model, if you know what I’m saying.”
While a full album may be off the table, Danzig hasn’t ruled out smaller releases.
“That’s what I’m thinking. If I can find time to actually — ’cause right after these Danzig shows in late March, that’ll be it for Danzig shows for a while. I’ve got some Misfits shows I have to do in 2025, but then after that, pretty much I wanna do some other stuff. So, we’ll see. In that amount of time, if I write some more songs, then maybe I’ll do like an EP or something.”
Danzig also emphasized that fans should take advantage of the opportunity to see these iconic acts while they still can.
“It worked out that way for a reason, I guess. Everything happens for a reason — that’s how I think — and so when it’s meant to happen, it happens. And so it ended up happening, and people should enjoy it while we’re still doing it because I’ve always said, when I can’t do it anymore, I won’t go on there and do it. You know what I mean? I’m not gonna go up there and pretend to play and have tapes or whatever. I’m not gonna do that. So if it ever becomes that, where physically or vocally I can’t do it, I won’t do it. So, people should go check it out now, ’cause you never know what’s gonna happen. The world could end tomorrow. It’s a crazy world right now.”
