For those of us with a green thumb, spring and summer present endless opportunities to flex those gardening muscles. While beautifying your yard can be therapeutic, it can also be an expensive endeavor. But not if Aldi has the last word. Aldi shoppers have recently spotted gorgeous ready-to-plant hyacinths on the store’s shelves, and they’re selling out fast. Why? Because they’re only $1.19 each. Yes, you read that correctly: Aldi is selling gorgeous hyacinths for only a dollar.
Aldi shoppers rushed to Facebook to share the news of the latest living decor find in the “ALDI Aisle of Shame” community. Many were quick to praise how lovely hyacinths smell, while others pointed out that they’re sturdy enough to withstand a frost or two, so it isn’t too early to plant them — even if it’s still chilly in your area.
Hyacinths are typically not a wildly expensive flower, but they aren’t ever this cheap, either. A single bulb can cost as much as $7 at retailers like The Home Depot or Walmart, which really puts into perspective how impressive this deal at Aldi truly is. Even for grocery store flowers, it’s a steal.
Perhaps the best part about this delightful $1 find is that hyacinths are perennials, meaning they’ll bloom year after year if they’re given proper care. This isn’t the first time Aldi has sold ready-to-plant hyacinths, either. “I bought some at Aldi 15 years ago and they come up every year!” wrote one loyal Aldi shopper. “I bought them last year and planted them at the cemetery,” wrote another. “They came up again this year and are deer resistant.”
Think about that for just a moment: You can enjoy gorgeous flowers every season for just $1, courtesy of Aldi. Some commenters in the Facebook group lamented that their Aldi store was already sold out, so you’ll want to hurry before it’s too late!
