Ather Community Day 2025: Everything you need to know

At its 2025 Community Day, Ather Energy revealed their future plans related to production, new products and updates to existing ones. The company pulled the wraps off an all-new scalable EV platform that will underpin future models, two concepts and OTA updates for existing models. Here is everything you need.

  1. Ather upcoming scooters to be built at new Aurangabad factory
  2. Company has showcased two new concepts: EL01 and Redux

Ather community day announcements

AtherStack 7.0 update

This software update introduces voice interaction, powered by a large language model tuned to Indian dialects, making it possible for riders to communicate naturally with their scooters. It also adds new safety features including Crash Alerts, which automatically notify emergency contacts with live location data, and Pothole Alerts, which warn riders of rough patches ahead by drawing on fleet-wide intelligence.

The company has expanded its Infinite Cruise system, which is now more versatile and better suited to Indian conditions. It features three distinct modes: CityCruise, which adapts seamlessly to braking and speed changes without disengaging; Hill Control, which manages torque on inclines and uses regenerative braking on descents; and Crawl Control, which maintains a steady 10kph on rough roads, paired with multimode traction control for slippery surfaces. The feature is also backward compatible with the 2025 Ather 450 Apex.

Security has been strengthened with ParkSafe, which alerts owners if their scooter is parked in an unsafe location, and LockSafe, which allows the scooter to be immobilised remotely via the app. Remote control functions such as stopping charging or shutting down the scooter from anywhere have also been added. AtherStack 7.0 will be rolled out as an OTA update in the coming months and will be backward compatible with the Rizta Z and 450X up to Gen 3.

All new EL platform

The EL platform has been developed using over 26 lakh kilometres of field data and is designed to deliver greater flexibility, scalability and cost efficiency. At its core is a unibody steel chassis that improves durability while reducing costs and assembly time, with Ather claiming production will be 15 percent quicker. Ather says the simpler architecture and reduced component count also make maintenance easier, doubling service intervals to 10,000km and enabling periodic servicing to be completed in half the time.

This platform introduces a swingarm-mounted motor in place of the current belt drive, paired with a front disc brake, monoshock suspension and a centre stand. Manufacturing of EL-based scooters will take place at Ather’s upcoming Factory 3.0 in Aurangabad.

Ather previewed three potential scooters on this foundation: a maxi-style scooter with 14-inch wheels and a 5kWh battery for maximum range, a sportier model with a compact 2kWh battery and 12-inch wheels, and a family-oriented scooter with plusher suspension, longer wheelbase, wide seat and support for advanced rider assistance systems. While the company has showcased the EL01, there is no information about what the first production model will be called. Additionally, the company says the new model will coexist with the existing 450 and Rizta lines.

Among the innovations arriving with the EL platform is Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), which improves braking performance by reducing stopping distances and minimising rear-wheel lockups. While not ABS, the system has been designed to coexist with ABS in future products. Another important development is the Charge Drive Controller, which integrates the onboard charger with the motor controller, freeing up boot space and removing the need for owners to carry a portable charger.

Ather Rizta updates

Ather’s family scooter, the Rizta Z, will receive OTA updates that will unlock the touchscreen dashboard functionality which is already built into its hardware, while the interface has been refreshed and a new Eco Mode introduced to help balance performance with range.

A new Terracotta Red colour option has also been added to the line-up which is available in both dual-tone and single tone configurations. This new colour is available for Rs 1.05 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh for the Rizta S and Rizta Z respectively.

Improved fast charging

Ather introduced a new 6kW fast charger which it claims is half the size of the current unit yet delivering twice the speed and it can add up to 30km of range in just 10 minutes. Additionally, select chargers will also feature an integrated tyre inflator.

EL01 concept

While the first production scooter on the EL platform has not been named yet, Ather used the Community Day stage to showcase the EL01 concept. This prototype demonstrates the architecture’s capabilities and the kind of hardware innovations it enables, such as the swingarm-mounted motor and integrated Charge Drive Controller.

The EL01 is not a production model but a preview of how Ather’s new generation of scooters could look and feel, with the first market-ready product expected around the festive season next year..

Redux concept

Beyond production-focused announcements, Ather also showcased the Redux, a radical concept that the company calls a ‘moto-scooter’. Built on a lightweight aluminium frame with a 3D-printed lattice mesh seat and body panels crafted from AmplyTex, Redux showcases features such as adaptive ride dynamics, adjustable ergonomics and Morph-UI, which is a display that changes based on riding context.

Ather says the prototype is a collection of experiments, both mechanical and digital, intended to explore new ideas in responsiveness, adaptability and rider engagement. It serves as a contrast to the EL platform and EL01, which are focused on scalable mass-market products.
