This 1978 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce is said to have remained registered with its original owner until 2015, and it was registered with the next owner in Illinois until it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025. The car was repainted in the factory shade of green under previous ownership, per the selling dealer, and refurbishments in 2025 included a paint correction, installing a tan Haartz Stayfast soft top, cleaning and adjusting the distributor, fluid changes, and replacing the fuel system thermostatic actuator. Powered by a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with power-assisted disc brakes, 14″ cast alloy wheels, a wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel, a Clarion cassette stereo, and tan leather upholstery. Now showing 28k miles, this S2 Spider is now offered by the selling dealer with an owner’s manual, two sets of keys, an early-style rear bumper, and a clean Arizona title.
The Pininfarina-designed bodywork was refinished in the factory shade of Verde Inglese under previous ownership, according to the selling dealer, and a Stage 1 paint correction was completed in October 2025. A replacement tan Haartz Stayfast soft top was installed under current ownership, and exterior details include bright trim, black impact bumpers, and a central exhaust outlet. The 14″ cast alloy wheels are mounted with older 195/65 Yokohama AV1-65 tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and anti-roll bars. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs. A September 2025 inspection indicates the suspension bushings are soft.
The cabin features front bucket seats with tan leather upholstery complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include a Clarion cassette stereo, a dashboard-mounted gearshift lever, and an integrated center console. The wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel fronts a dual binnacle gauge cluster housing a Jaeger 8k-rpm tachometer alongside a 140-mph speedometer as well as centrally mounted gauges indicating fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.0L twin-cam inline-four was factory equipped with SPICA mechanical fuel injection and was rated at 111 horsepower and 122 lb-ft of torque when new. A replacement cooling fan, fan shroud, engine mounts, and high-pressure fuel hose were installed in 2015. The distributor was disassembled, cleaned, and adjusted in October 2025, and additional service in preparation for the sale included changing the oil and coolant as well as replacing the thermostatic actuator for the SPICA fuel injection system.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were replaced in 2015, and a replacement catalytic converter and exhaust components were installed in September 2025. Additional service that month included changing the gear oil in the transmission and topping off the differential gear oil. Oil residue is present on the transmission and differential, and overspray is present on portions of the undercarriage.
